SCALES AND SUBSCALES

I. Anxiety Scales

1. Total Scale Score - Cumulative score for all Anxiety scales.

2. Death Anxiety - Thematic references to death, threat of death, or anxiety about death.

3. Mutilation Anxiety - Thematic references to injury, threat of injury, or anxiety about injury.

4. Separation Anxiety - Thematic references to loss, desertion, ostracism, or threat of this.

5. Guilt Anxiety - Thematic references to criticism, abuse, condemnation, moral disapproval, or guilt, or threat of this.

6. Shame Anxiety - Thematic references to ridicule, humiliation, embarrassment, inadequacy, shame, exposure of deficiencies or private details, or threat of this.

7. Diffuse Anxiety - Thematic references to anxiety and/or fear without distinguishing type or source.

II. Hostility Scales

1. Total Hostility Directed Outward - Cumulative score for Overt and Covert Outward Hostility.

2. Hostility Directed Outward/Overt - Thematic references to destructive, injurious, and/or critical thoughts and actions directed from self to others.

3. Hostility Directed Outward/Covert - Thematic references to destructive, injurious, and/or critical thoughts and actions directed from others to others.

4. Hostility Directed Inward - Thematic references to self-destructive, self-critical thoughts and actions.

5. Ambivalent Hostility - Thematic references to destructive, injurious, and/or critical thoughts and actions directed from others to self.

III. Social Alienation and Personal Disorganization Scales

1. Total Scale Score - Cumulative score for all scales referencing interpersonal avoidance and disorientation, self malfunctioning, or other signs of disorganization.

2. Prosocial Subscale* - Thematic references to positive interactions between others.

IV. Cognitive Impairment Scale

1. Total Scale Score - Cumulative score for all scales referencing interpersonal, intrapersonal and other dysfunctioning and disorganization. The scale has been found to detect neurologically-based aspects of cognitive functioning, including dementia, adult ADD/ADHD, and effects of drug and/or alcohol abuse.

V. Hope Scales

1. Total Scale Score - Cumulative score for all scales referencing hope and optimisim proportional to hopelessness and pessimism.

2. Interpersonal Supportiveness Subcale* - Thematic references to others getting support, help, esteem from others and/or self.

3. Interpersonal Distrust Subscale* - Thematic references to others not being supportive, helpful, giving to others and/or self.

VI. Depression Scale

1. Total Scale Score - Cumulative score for all scales referencing depression, hopelessness, self-rebuke, guilt, shame, bitterness.

VII. Health/Sickness Scales

1. Total Scale Score - Ratio of Health to Sickness scale scores.

2. Health Score - Thematic references to feelings of well-being and health.

3. Sickness Score - Thematic references to feelings of sickness, poor health and suffering.
